Oh My God! What The F**K?

Had been to Bombay aka Mumbai (I love that place!) to meet old friends & roomies from Patni days on Saturday, 11/11/2006.

Pramoth (the 4-raw-eggs-a-day-6ft guy) has already done his MBA grind the hard way staying on a hill top 28kms away from civilization. With nothing except a huge collection of the unmentionable on the PC's to keep him from going insane! The IIM-K setup is very much in line with the principles laid down in ancient Guru-Shishya parampara. Leave the Shishya's at the mercy of the Guru's. Guru's staying a posh suites with balconies opening out to greenery (I've seen the pictures as evidence) and Shishya's staying in rooms where they are a part of a complete & thriving ecosystem (this is where he failed to produce any evidence but I give it to him!)

Easwar, the other brainy fellow, is on a year long vacation at Dubai & now Singapore under the garb of MBA grind. Poser! I can't imagine doing an MBA in a setup where everything else except books beckon you. Al-Burj and worlds largest malls to roam isnt the right motivation for gaining gyan that comes at a price of around 15lacs! But then the sheikh's may be following a very different Guru-Shishya parampara! All he remembers from his first 6months of the MBA was a sand-dune off-roading trip in Land Rover. And how a local owning a Land Rover rescued a (veiled) damsel-in-distress who's car was stuck in sand and our desi mustanda's couldn't budge her (the car!) a bit. And now he is in Singapore for the remaining half of the course/vacation, which as per him is even more scenic and just a bit away from town. Some have it easy & do it in style! :)

The ride to Bombay on NH4 was a lot of fun except the two 2hrs under the sun that gave me a terrible pain-in-the-ear on Sunday morning. The highways are perfect and the Bullet is just the right set of wheels to eat up the miles on such roads. Starting at 10am with a small break on the way at lonavala ensured that I was waiting to be received under a flyover near Airoli Bridge at 2.30pm. The roads from Panvel towards the city are 'BAD' and thats an understatement.

Garfield-2 is a fun movie. But the funniest thing happened just before the movie outside Regal(was it?). A short & fat girl, probably waiting for her friends, saw some 6footer guy with little hair on his head and lotsa rings in his ears everywhere. Maybe he wasnt expected and it was a surprise for her. And before the junta could realize whether it was a bomb scare/stampede or the sky falling down, the girl was shouting 'Oh my god! What the f**K!' with hands on her cheeks, eyes popping out staring at the grizzly! And she kept saying those words over and over again before even the grizzly got embarassed at the reception he was getting (from the crowd)and took her aside. He probably hugged her to ensure her face was buried deep into his arms and any further sounds coming from mouth were muffled! Neither of us and i'm sure from the crowd have ever seen sucha warm welcome being extended to anyone. When I met these two donkeys (I got friends too!), all i got was a handshake! I'm expecting a OMG-WTF reception the next time i meet them!

The fun sure didnt end there. The idea was to go hang out at 'Jazz-By-The-Bay' at Marine Driver overlooking the bay. The place was there but we couldn't really see the bay due to some tin-sheets put up to hide the mess the construction workers prolly had made. But a few minutes after resting our butts on the chairs, we didnt really need the bay to spruce up the place. More chatting and even more endless chatting for a good 2-1/2 hours put a lot of groups-of-girls present around that time to shame! There was only 1 catch to it though. We had to order something to eat every 30mins which wasn't really problem since atleast 2 out of 3 usually used to choose to go have food at places dishing out unlimited-thali's to get enough food into their bellies. So we had a 2 10'' pizzas, 3 iced tea's, two pasta's (yummy!), a beer, garlic bread and another set of garlic bread with stuff on top of each slice (can't remember what was it baptised as). Maurice, the old chap still works there. Used to see him 6-7yrs ago during the weekend visits to the place with Gauri Tai (didn't have money then!). Icecream at the old place in the CCI building is a must if you are Marine Drive. No Baskin Robbins business!

Some fun it was! Amol was missing though but some other time with him thrown in as well!
